Stamped Cross Stitch
Stamped cross stitch kits work up quickly and easily, since there is no tedious counting of threads. Instead, the design is stamped onto the fabric, and you simply follow it according to the color chart, something like painting by numbers. It's a great way to begin doing cross stitch, but expert stitchers enjoy it too, especially when they are doing a larger piece.
Since large areas of the design are often left open, the airy, delicate result lends itself especially well to baby items. We have a great collection of bibs, quilts and birth record kits to choose from. They're all designed by Linda Gillum, the famed creator of whimsical creatures. Some kits come complete with floss and needles, while others are open stock, which means you'll purchase your own floss from the list included.
Barbara Baatz Hillman dresses up your bedding with pillowcases worked in toile cross stitch. "Toile" means that the pattern is executed in shades of a single color against a white background. You can choose between playful bunnies chasing a butterfly or an elegant hummingbird sipping at a morning glory. Floss is not included, so you can choose your color to match your decor.
Nancy Rossi gives us "Birdhouses." This delightful composition looks like it takes many more hours than it really does! Three birds, three whimsical birdhouses, and three eggs in a nest stand against a cheery background of cherry trees. The design is heat transferred to the Aida cloth in full color.
