Here’s an idea for a stitched gift bag for a special loved one.
Select a motif that will fit on the front of the bag. The one shown is 5″w X 6″L. The Santa design is found in the Mini Christmas Ornaments booklet on our website. Cut a piece of 14 ct fabric 6″ X 17″. Center the stitching about an inch above the midpoint of the fabric. You will fold the fabric in half in order to sew the bag so you’ll need to have the motif centered so that the top of the design is a little above the middle of the folded piece.
Place right sides together. Using a 1/2″ seam allowance, stitch the sides leaving a 3/4″ opening for the drawstring 2 1/2″ from the top. Fold the top 1/2″ under then fold then fold the top 2″ to for a casing. Stitch 1/4″ from the bottom of the casing fold, then 1/2″ above that seam. Slide 1/4″ ribbon from one side and again from the other side.
